Today I went to White Apron and got a Greek Tuna Sandwich with a Greek side salad and a Coke for a total of $14.00. This was the second time I had been to the restaurant and it will probably be my last. I feel that me and White Apron don't see eye to eye. The first time I went I got a Monsieur sandwich and felt like I had gotten ripped off because it was just bread, meat and mayonnaise and not worth the price. I feel the same way today and have made a final decision and fired them. Try for yourself and tell me what you think. I think if it were them vs Au Bon Pain, I would have to go with Au Bon Pain X 1,000. I think I will go there later on this week.
For the start of the week I was looking forward to something but did not know what. I had pasta the last week from Basil Thyme Two so I decided to make a trip to L'Enfant Plaza and try Basil Thyme One. I got the Giuseppe (Black Truffle Lasagna with Portobellos and Gorgonzola). This was definitely worth the trip and is what going to the food truck is all about. It had me talking to myself so you know it was good! I got a Cannoli du Jour (Cookies n' Cream) and soda for an extra $1. The bill for the start of the week was $13.20. Highly recommended.
Since it was the end of the week I decided it was food truck time. I thought I would go to Tasty Fried but saw this food truck called Goode's Mobile Kitchen . I was intrigued because they had crab cakes and that sealed the deal for the day. My sides for the meal were plaintains and cabbage. I went and got a Ginger Lemonade from Chop't for a total of $21.78. It was good and highly recommended. All crab meat, no filling. Check it out!
Today I decided to go back to Chop't and try something a little different. I got the Silk Road Vegan and added chicken. I also got the Green Tea Lemonade for a total of $10.98.
One of my coworkers had mentioned a food truck called Basil Thyme. Lucky for me it happened to be in the area today. It is actually called Basil Thyme Two and sells pasta. I got the Fettuccine pasta with Pepperoni sauce and meatballs plus a drink for $13.20. It was good but I am looking forward to Basil Thyme One.
Since we had a three day weekend, my week started on Tuesday so I decided to go to Popeye's. I got a 4PC Combo (2 Spicy Legs, 2 Mild Legs) with Red Beans and Rice and a drink. Total spent: $9.32.
Here I am half way through my experiment and I decided I would do an analysis of what has been going on. I have found that the price range daily is going to be anywhere from $10 to $20 a day. I have also learned that you can go upscale or just scrimp by for the day. I think if you do this daily that it will hurt your pocketbook and you will become dazed and confused with where your $$$$ went. Before the experiment I took my lunch pretty much everyday and I feel I made better food and it was cheaper. I have two more weeks to go until it is me, myself and i making the meals and showing that variety is the spice of life. Stay tuned!
For the end of the week I went to Pret A Manger. I got a Spinach Panini with a small Chicken Noodle Soup and a Strawberry Lemonade for a drink. The damage for the day was $14.16. It was good just expensive.
For Thursday I decided it was a MOJO Day. Since they were in the neighborhood I decided to get a Steak Special which was so good. It was so good that I got a second one. You heard it right. I had one sandwich, and went to go get a second. For a drink I got the Green Tea Lemonade from Chop't. The expense report reads $22.19 for today. As of this post, MOJO is my #1 food truck!!!
** Even though getting a 2nd sandwich was good, I think I'll stick with one next time**
